Mercedes-Maybach is taking luxury travel beyond the road with Beyond Horizons, an ambitious 508-foot (155-metre) megayacht concept developed with Splendid Sea. Unveiled at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the project introduces a new approach to superyacht ownership, designed for affluent travellers who value access, flexibility and exceptional experiences over traditional asset ownership.
At the heart of the concept is the Maybach Ocean Club, a fractional co-ownership model that transforms the superyacht into an exclusive private club at sea.
A New Era of Yacht Ownership
Rather than purchasing an entire yacht or relying on charter, members acquire a share of Beyond Horizons, providing approximately four dedicated weeks aboard each year. Professional crews handle everything from operations and scheduling to maintenance, insurance, fuel and port fees.
The model reflects a wider evolution in luxury travel and lifestyle, where ultra-high-net-worth individuals increasingly prioritise convenience, experiences and time over the responsibilities associated with owning a major asset.
A Megayacht Designed Around Hospitality
Beyond Horizons has been conceived as a hospitality-first superyacht, with 30 residential-style suites, each measuring approximately 74 square metres and featuring a private balcony.
In a deliberate departure from traditional yacht design, every suite is identical in size and layout, eliminating the hierarchy typically created by larger owner and VIP cabins.
The yacht is designed to accommodate up to 72 guests supported by approximately 80–85 crew, creating an unusually high level of personalised service. An infinity pool, expansive terraces, wellness facilities and watersports further reinforce its resort-at-sea philosophy.
A dedicated 230-foot shadow yacht carries tenders, water toys and technical equipment, allowing the main vessel to focus entirely on the guest experience.
