Sustainable Practices

In a significant step towards environmental stewardship, Lapita, Dubai Parks™ and Resorts, has unveiled a range of impactful sustainability initiatives, showcasing its dedication to eco-friendly practices.

One of the resort’s recent initiatives includes the introduction of an advanced hydroponic farming system on-site. This innovative system cultivates organic vegetables for direct use in the property’s restaurants. By employing nutrient-rich water solutions instead of traditional soil-based methods, the system ensures high-quality, pesticide-free produce. This farm-to-table approach highlights the freshness and quality of the ingredients, enhancing the culinary experience for guests.

In addition to its farming efforts, Lapita has implemented a water bottling system that reuses glass bottles, filled with in-house drinkable water. Through a collaboration with Simply Bottles, Lapita has also launched a plastic bottle recycling program, transforming collected plastic bottles into threads used to produce clothing, caps, bags, and more.

Lapita’s commitment to sustainability is further underscored by its achievement of the prestigious Green Key Certification, making it the UAE’s first and only Polynesian resort to receive this recognition. This certification guides the resort’s operations, including the implementation of its ‘Meatless Mondays’ programme, aimed at reducing waste associated with meat consumption among its staff.

Faiek El Saadani, General Manager of Lapita, Dubai Parks™ and Resorts, remarked, ”Lapita is proving to be a beacon of sustainability, demonstrating that luxury and responsibility can go hand in hand. Our actions speak for our commitment to preserving our planet, paving the way for a future where eco-friendly practices and premium hospitality unite seamlessly.”

Moreover, Lapita boasts 90 solar panels, which harness renewable energy to heat water in guests’ rooms and power outdoor lighting. The resort has also transitioned to energy-efficient LED lights and bulbs, along with motion sensors, to further minimize its ecological footprint. To support the nation’s efforts in reducing carbon emissions, Lapita has installed electric vehicle (EV) chargers on the property.

Lapita’s ongoing commitment to inspiring eco-friendly hospitality reflects a shared responsibility towards our planet, encouraging others to join in this important journey.
