Another luxury beach resort for JBR

The 55-storey Corinthia at Meydan Beach resort is scheduled to open by 2019 and will have a mix of 300 bedrooms and 60 serviced apartments.

Ever so often there are unfounded whispers that Dubai’s luxury hospitality industry is chock full and saturated. But what those naysayers fail to acknowledge is that Dubai is currently the world’s fourth most visited city. By 2020, it expects to host 20 million visitors annually, so no wonder the luxury hotels keep coming.

To that end, we’ve seen a number of new projects announced within the last few months and the latest is a new beachfront resort to be built in Jumeriah Beach Residence (JBR). The project will see two real estate powerhouses – Corinthia Hotels and UAE-based Meydan Group – team up to execute this mega project.

Corinthia already have a reputation for building some of the finest five-star hotels around the world, and this upcoming hotel in Dubai isn’t expected to be an exception. The Meydan Group on the other hand has developed several million square feet of real estate in the region and their experience spans residential, commercial and the leisure verticals. The 55-storey resort will be called the Corinthia at Meydan Beach and is scheduled to be open for business by 2019.

It will boast of a mix of 300-bedrooms for visitors, as well as 60 luxury serviced apartments for those who would like to call this home for extended durations. It will feature the regular trappings including a spa, club and several dining options as well as whimsical architectural styling like a podium and gardens that cascade right onto the beach below. AE7 are the architects for this ambitious project.

The vertiginous jewel will only add to the city’s already glittering skyline.
