DAMAC Hospitality: Leadership Behind the Vision

Inside DAMAC Hospitality’s Cinematic Rise: Dean Rossilli on Leadership, Innovation, and the Future of Luxury Travel. From global operations to AI-driven guest journeys, the hospitality veteran shares how storytelling, culture, and talent power DAMAC’s next chapter

Dean Rossilli has spent more than three decades shaping hotel experiences across four continents. But his career began far from boardrooms and brand strategy sessions — it started in his family’s Italian restaurant, where he learned the basics of service and the value of genuine human connection. Today, as Senior Vice President of Hospitality at DAMAC, those early lessons still guide his leadership.

Rossilli’s global path through the UK, Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Middle East has shaped a style rooted in empathy and curiosity. “Luxury standards are universal,” he says, “but the magic lies in tailoring them to the cultural heartbeat of each destination.” At DAMAC, he channels Dubai’s energy while adapting to new markets, empowering his teams to lead with confidence and local insight.

A Cinematic Approach to Modern Hospitality

DAMAC’s Paramount Hotels have become known for immersive, film-inspired experiences — not as surface-level themes, but as the brand’s creative backbone. “The cinematic thread isn’t décor. It’s the DNA,” Rossilli explains.

This comes to life in interactive dining shows, seasonal events inspired by classic Paramount films, and even an Emily in Paris afternoon tea designed to feel like stepping inside the series. Cast members are trained much like performers, developing characters and bringing scenes to life. The aim is to spark emotion, surprise, and the sense of entering a story — a rare feat in a market where luxury is plentiful but differentiation is scarce.

Creativity and Discipline, Working Together

Rossilli oversees a wide scope: CRM, commercial strategy, food and beverage, and innovation across the portfolio. Balancing imaginative ideas with operational excellence is central to his role.

He points to a highly successful Willy Wonka–inspired seasonal campaign as an example. Marketing, culinary, operations, and brand teams developed the concept together from the first brainstorm to the final guest interaction. “Bold ideas only work when delivered seamlessly,” he says. Data also plays a key role, helping refine offers, understand guest behaviour, and tailor experiences. “The magic is in the detail. Creativity starts the story, but discipline completes it.”

Technology That Enhances the Human Touch

As AI reshapes hospitality, Rossilli sees it not as a replacement for talent but as a tool for deeper personalisation. Paramount Hotel Dubai integrates AI-generated visuals into live shows, creating richer experiences on stage. On the backend, AI-powered CRM helps the team anticipate needs before guests express them.

“The goal is for technology to disappear into the background,” he says. “Guests should feel cared for, not managed by systems.” Even digital storytelling — from cinematic marketing campaigns to interactive booking journeys — is designed to build emotion, not just efficiency.

Sustainability as a Luxury Standard

Rossilli believes sustainability and luxury aren’t competing forces. “Today’s guests expect them to coexist,” he says. DAMAC Hotels & Resorts has removed plastic bottles, prioritises local sourcing, and invests in high-efficiency infrastructure that reduces long-term costs.

At Paramount Hotel Midtown, these efforts earned Dubai Sustainable Tourism’s Gold Stamp. For Rossilli, sustainability isn’t an initiative — it’s a brand strength. “When environmental responsibility aligns with design and experience, it becomes part of the story guests want to be part of.”

A Service Culture Built on Storytelling

DAMAC’s service philosophy, “CREATE,” encourages cast members to see themselves as storytellers rather than service providers. Character development workshops build confidence, emotional intelligence, and a sense of ownership. Recognition programs celebrate both small gestures and breakthrough moments. “When people believe in the mission, they deliver with pride,” Rossilli says.

The Next Five Years: Branded Living, AI Personalisation, and Wellness

Looking ahead, Rossilli is focused on the growing fusion of hospitality, real estate, and lifestyle. Branded residences are becoming extensions of hotel service culture, offering curated living supported by high-touch hospitality. AI personalisation will help scale these experiences, while wellness evolves into a holistic pillar influencing design, dining, and daily rituals.

“Sustainability, digital innovation, and story-led experiences will shape how people live, connect, and belong,” he says. “That’s where DAMAC is heading.”

What Keeps Him Inspired

For Rossilli, the spark comes from impact — on guests, on teams, and on the brand’s creative legacy. Moments of transformation, whether in a guest experience or a young manager’s development, fuel his energy. “In this industry, there’s always a new story to tell,” he says.

His guiding philosophy is simple: surround yourself with talented people, trust them, and give them room to grow. “Leadership is about setting the vision and empowering others to bring it to life.”
